A while ago we began to put the names of people we know that we wanted to be kept in prayer in a zen garden on top the counter. We light a candle each day in the garden, and a prayerful vigil is kept for those in special need of prayer. Our customers sometimes will give us the name of someone they know who needs prayers and as events happen in our country and in the world we add more, as in the case of Newtown, or Hurricane Sandy…it goes on and on…I have even put in the garden “all of us”. It is just something we started and we honor the space it has taken in the shop. Today, a young boy, troubled by a very ill relative, asked his mom if he could stay home today and visit the shop…he wanted to do something that would help his family…and so now the names of those he loves most are in the garden. We don’t always find out what impact we have by the things we put into action…it was a true gift today to find out. Namaste dear friends.
